Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine

About the role
We are looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine team. Our Internal Medicine department provides advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with complex medical conditions, collaborating closely with other services to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
- Assist the Internal Medicine team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow
- Prepare patients for diagnostics and procedures, including patient assessments, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and treatment preparation
- Monitor patients during sedation, treatments, and recovery
- Assist with advanced diagnostic procedures in accordance with Florida Veterinary Practice Act guidelines
- Support endoscopy, ultrasound, and other Internal Medicine procedures as directed by the medical team
- Communicate with clients regarding individualized pet health concerns, treatment plans, medications, and Thrive Membership options
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records utilizing hospital practice management systems
- Obtain relevant patient histories and client information
- Use safe restraint techniques and uphold hospital safety protocols
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary treatment and laboratory areas
- Mentor and support fellow team members while contributing to a positive hospital culture
Requirements
- 1-2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service is required
- Internal Medicine or specialty experience preferred
- Veterinary Technician licensure (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, but NOT required
- Experienced Veterinary Assistants encouraged to apply
- A degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Schedule
Full-time, day shift, 4 × 10-hour shifts per week (no on-call).
