Pets in the Puppy Parvo ICU
The Arizona Humane Society's Puppy Parvo ICU provides a healing and supportive environment for ill puppies, including those from other shelters. As a Veterinary Technician II, you will play a crucial role in their care.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in treating sick and recovering puppies through various treatments such as radiology, laboratory diagnostics, client education, and clinic asepsis.
- Perform tasks like setting IV catheters on critically ill patients, collecting and preparing lab samples, administering medications, and using fluid and syringe pumps.
- Ensure the physical and mental health of the puppies by feeding, watering, and maintaining their habitats according to departmental and organizational standards.
- Adhere to cleaning, chemical, handling, and safety procedures, and demonstrate proficiency in anesthesiology and physical exams.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a veterinary technician program
- At least 3 years of experience as a Tech II/CVT in a veterinary clinic/hospital
- Knowledge of phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, pharmacology, and safe animal handling
- Proficiency in anesthesiology and ability to perform physical exams on all animals
