Veterinary Technician - Experienced
About the role
Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician at Have a Heart Animal Hospital in Haverhill, MA. This position works between 30-40 hours a week, including a mix of day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Job Duties
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Aid in surgeries and procedures in accordance with state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Maintain patient status, collect samples for testing, place catheters, and communicate with clients about pet health concerns.
- Manage medical records using practice systems, gather client health histories, and organize treatment areas.
- Apply safe restraining techniques, adhere to standard protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
- Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Experience & Skills
- Veterinary technician licensure preferred, but not required.
- One to two years of clinical experience.
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squat, reach, stand, and walk throughout the day.

About Have a Heart Animal Hospital
At Have a Heart Animal Hospital, we provide care for dogs, cats, and pocket pets in the Haverhill, Methuen, and Lawrence, MA areas. We are an AAHA-accredited practice offering wellness and preventative care, diagnostics, and surgical services. We also have visiting specialists for ultrasound and endoscopic imaging, and visiting board-certified orthopedic specialists.
Compensation
Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with a starting rate ranging from $22-26/hr. The actual rate offered will consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
