Veterinary Technician - ER Overnight

About the role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Lafayette, CO is seeking an Overnight Certified Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced emergency department. The position is open 7 days a week and deals with complex medicine, surgeries, and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining lab samples
• Placing catheters
• Administering SQ, IM, and IV injections
• Assisting in surgical procedures and emergencies
• Restraining animals
• Cleaning kennels
• Maintaining instruments
• Promoting outstanding customer service

Requirements

• Emergency experience preferred
• Experience as a Veterinary Technician required
• Certified/Licensed Technician required

Qualifications

• Display a desire to provide outstanding service and exceed customer expectations
• Show willingness to learn aspects of triage, outpatient, and inpatient care

Skills

• High level of nursing skill
• Solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations
• Understanding and execution of treatment plans for outpatient and inpatient
• Ability to obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
• Knowledge of commonly-used medications and associated side effects
• Performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters

Pay

Pay range: $23.35 / hour - $33.60 / hour
Shift differentials: $4.00 for 6pm to 8am Mon-Fri, $5.50 for 6pm to 8am Sat-Sun, $4.00 for 8am to 6pm Sat-Sun
Continuing Education Plan: $500/year reimbursement for CVT, $750/year for VTS
