Veterinary Technician *Day Shift* - Newton Veterinary Hospital - NJ

About the role

Newton Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Level II–III Veterinary Technician to join our team in a full-time daytime position. As a 24/7 emergency and general practice hospital, Newton offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload while continuing to strengthen your technical skills alongside an experienced and supportive veterinary team.

Schedule

This is a full-time daytime position with scheduling options of:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Saturday availability is required

Responsibilities

• Venipuncture and blood collection
• IV catheter placement
• Patient restraint and handling
• Medication administration
• Laboratory sample collection and processing
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Surgical preparation and assistance
• Comfortable with surgical prep and anesthesia monitoring for ER abdominal surgery
• Dental procedures and patient care
• Hospitalized patient treatments and nursing care
• Diagnostic imaging assistance
• Accurate medical documentation
• Recognizing changes in patient condition and communicating concerns to the medical team
• Providing compassionate care to patients and clear communication with clients
• Working collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and veterinary assistants

Requirements

• Previous veterinary technician experience and a well-rounded technical skillset
• Comfortable handling routine technician responsibilities with increasing independence
• Experience with surgery, ER abdominal surgeries, anesthesia, dentistry, and hospitalized patient care
• Dependable, organized, and able to prioritize in a busy hospital environment
• Strong communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team
• Eager to continue learning and developing technical skills
• Ability to work Saturdays as part of regular schedule
• New Jersey CVT certification is welcomed but not required

Pay

Compensation is based on experience, technical skillset, and technician level.

• $24.00–$32.00/hour
• Licensed New Jersey CVTs earn 25% above the posted wage ranges
