About the role
Supports the Critical Care team at BluePearl Pet Hospital. Provides advanced nursing care to critically ill and hospitalized patients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
- Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
- Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
Requirements
Must have a valid state license to practice veterinary technology. Must have completed a recognized veterinary technician program and passed the VTNE exam. Must have a strong foundation in veterinary medicine and clinical skills.

Pay
$27.00 - $49.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials. Pay band dependent on experience and advancement through competency assessment tool.
Schedule
3-12 hour shifts. Nights and weekends offer additional shift differentials.
