Veterinary Technician Clinical Director (Full-Time)

Position Summary

Shape the future of veterinary medicine in the East Valley! Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician Clinical Director to lead the clinical education component of our Veterinary Technician Program at our East Valley campus in Mesa, AZ.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Affiliations & Site Management:

  • Partner Development: Secure new clinical rotation sites and negotiate contractual agreements.

  • Ensure all clinical contracts remain current, accurate, and aligned with program accreditation needs.

  • Site Relations & Visits: Conduct site visits across clinical affiliates to evaluate student performance, review learning progress, and collaborate with site preceptors/instructors.

  • Student Placement: Coordinate student scheduling and site placements to ensure a comprehensive, effective clinical education experience.

• Instruction & Academic Leadership:

  • Coordinate both clinical and didactic education for the Veterinary Technician Program.

  • Perform instructor duties in the classroom and lab as needed.

  • Competency Assessment: Develop clinical learning objectives, monitor student skill evaluations, and maintain accurate grade books in accordance with institutional policy.

  • Student Retention & Mentorship: Maintain an 80%+ student success rate by tracking progress, meeting with students to provide academic guidance, and implementing retention plans to minimize withdrawals.

• Departmental Administration & Compliance:

  • Continuous Improvement: Revise clinical education plans and recommend curriculum enhancements to the Program Director.

  • Admissions & Compliance: Assist the Program Director with interviewing and screening student applicants.

  • Enforce all safety guidelines, biohazard handling protocols, and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program recognized by the USDE or CHEA. (Baccalaureate degree preferred).

• Licensure/Credential: Active, current credential as a Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT) or Licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in good standing.

• Field Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience within the veterinary field.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer applications.

• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership, administrative, or supervisory experience in a veterinary clinical or educational setting.
