Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures while ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow throughout the hospital
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia and vital signs during surgical and dental procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Provide attentive nursing care for hospitalized and recovering patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and comfort care
- Place IV catheters, administer IV fluids, and assist with fluid therapy and treatment plans
- Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples for laboratory testing
- Operate diagnostic equipment including digital radiography, dental radiography, and in-house laboratory analyzers
- Support dental procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and dental radiography
- Accurately maintain medical records, treatment logs, and patient documentation
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding treatment plans, patient updates, and post-procedure care
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care and maintain an efficient hospital environment
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology
- Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation
- Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes
Schedule
Full-time, flexible schedule options available. Required shifts: Wednesdays until 8:00 pm and every Saturday.
Hospital Hours of Operation:
- Monday: 8 AM – 6 PM
- Tuesday: 8 AM – 6 PM
- Wednesday: 8 AM – 8 PM
- Thursday: 8 AM – 6 PM
- Friday: 8 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday: 9 AM – 2 PM
Pay
$22.00 – $28.00 per hour (based on experience, credentials, and skillset)

About Our Hospital
Budd Lake Animal Hospital is a full-service small animal hospital, offering the gold standard in medical and surgical care. We believe healthy pets make happy people, and we strive to provide high-quality veterinary care for cats and dogs in the Hackettstown, NJ area. Our diagnostic equipment includes an in-house laboratory, radiography, digital dental radiography, and more. Most importantly, we have phenomenal, experienced support staff who are crucial to the success of patient and client care.
Our wonderful 3 doctors perform a variety of routine and basic soft tissue procedures, as well as dentistry. All our patients undergoing anesthesia have pre-op lab work and receive an IV catheter, IV fluids, and are carefully monitored and recovered by our skilled veterinary technicians.
