About the Role
Position Details
- Role: Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant
- Status: Full-time
- Schedule: Four weekdays. Saturdays 8 am - 12:30 pm
Responsibilities
- Assisting veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, surgery, and treatment procedures.
- Performing technical skills such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, radiographs, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and dental cleanings (based on licensure and experience).
- Administering medications and treatments as directed.
- Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records.
- Educating clients on treatment plans, medications, and post-operative care instructions.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe treatment and surgical area.
- Aiding in inventory and supply management as needed.
Requirements
- Required Experience: Current Veterinary Technician license (where applicable) or prior hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant in a clinical setting.
Preferred Experience
- Proficiency in venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, laboratory procedures, and dentistry (appropriate to licensure and experience).
- Clinical confidence: Ability to assist in surgery, perform treatments, and manage hospitalized cases efficiently.
- Attention to detail: Accurate record keeping and careful monitoring of patients.
- Team-oriented mindset: Ability to work closely with veterinarians and support staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Compassionate patient care: Gentle handling and a genuine love for animals.
- Dependability: Reliable, punctual, and accountable.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
