About the role
Whitmire Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join their growing team. They provide comprehensive medical, surgical, dental, and preventive care in a modern, well-equipped facility.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures
- Maintain anesthesia monitoring before, during, and after surgery
- Assist veterinarians during routine and advanced surgical procedures
- Place intravenous catheters and administer medications as directed
- Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory samples
- Run in-house laboratory diagnostics
- Obtain digital radiographs, including dental radiographs
- Perform professional dental cleanings
- Monitor hospitalized patients and provide nursing care
- Calculate medication dosages and maintain accurate medical records
- Provide educational support to clients on treatment plans, medications, and post-operative care
- Maintain surgical equipment, treatment areas, and exam rooms
- Aid in inventory management and hospital organization
- Collaborate with doctors and teammates to provide exceptional patient care
Qualifications
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, or CVT) preferred, but not required
- Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience in a small animal practice
- Strong surgical and anesthesia monitoring experience
- Experience with dentistry and dental radiographs preferred
- Proficiency with IV catheter placement, venipuncture, laboratory procedures, and patient monitoring
- Excellent communication and client education skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during urgent or emergency cases
- Positive attitude and commitment to providing outstanding patient care
Schedule
Full-time (36–40 hours per week)
- Typical hours: 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM
- Rotating Saturdays as part of the hospital schedule
