About the role
At BluePearl Pet Hospital, our Veterinary Receptionists are imperative to the success of our hospital. In this position, you are the first BluePearl Associate that the client sees. You will ensure that each client receives the care and attention that they need. You will need to be able to function calmly and compassionately in situations that can be very emotional and difficult for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Greet and make friendly eye contact every time our hospital entry door opens to offer the individual warm and professional acknowledgement.
- Offer a friendly smile, strong eye contact and an approachable demeanor.
- Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone in a way that clients easily understand.
- Assess immediately upon arrival each client’s rare need, as well as the pet’s general condition.
- Determine whether an emergency arrival is a "stat" versus "standard" emergency.
- Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member.
- Confirm all appointments in advance ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet for the appointment.
- Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains by ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process.
Requirements
- Ability to work rotating shifts including day shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and empathy.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a customer service or receptionist role preferred.
Qualifications
- Current CPR certification.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and practices.
- Ability to lift and carry patients as needed.

Pay
$18 - $20 per hour based on experience.
Schedule
Day shift, Rotating Weekends and Holidays.
