Veterinary Medical Oncologist
Purpose
The Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital is expanding its services with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art 26,000 square foot hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The hospital features advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including a dedicated pharmacy and laboratory, endoscopy suite, 128-slice Canon CT scanner, ultrasound suite, X-ray units on both floors, two high-flow oxygen units, a dedicated fluoroscopy/C-arm suite, and a Siemens MAGNATOM Sempra 1.5T MRI. Additionally, the hospital now includes a Radiation Oncology Department supported by the Elekta Versa HD Linear Accelerator, offering IMRT, VMAT, and SRT capabilities.
About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Oncologist (board certified or residency trained) to join our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Our team is made up of 3 Internists, 2 Radiologists, 3 Surgeons, an Anesthesiologist, 2 Ophthalmologists, 1 Medical Oncologist, 2 Cardiologists, 1 Neurologist, 1 Criticalist, and a large team of dedicated Emergency Veterinarians. Responsibilities
- Provide expert medical oncology care to hospitalized patients
- Collaborate with other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Conduct clinical research and contribute to the advancement of veterinary oncology
- Train and mentor veterinary students and residents
- Participate in hospital rounds and case conferences
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with referring veterinarians
Requirements
- Board certification or completion of a residency program in veterinary medicine
- Experience in medical oncology preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passionate about providing compassionate care to pets and their owners
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited institution
- Current license to practice veterinary medicine in New Hampshire
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Skills
