Veterinary Medical Director

About the role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Veterinary Leader with several years of clinical experience to serve as the Medical Director. The Medical Director will partner with hospital administration to create a sense of community and interact globally with the hospital and all clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Uphold medical quality standards (patient care, client and referral veterinarian satisfaction, and patient safety)
• Support quality and operational initiatives
• Foster a clinician-driven culture and one that cultivates a learning environment
• Clinician recruiting, engagement, and retention

Requirements

• Collaborative, engaged, and passionate veterinary leader with several years of clinical experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work harmoniously and effectively with other clinicians, staff, and referring veterinarians
• Willingness to interact in various ways including making personal visits to referring veterinarians' practices, presenting CE programs, and discussing cases by phone

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Emergency and/or Specialty Medicine
• Experience in a leadership role in a veterinary practice
• Ability to work weekends, overnight, and holidays

• Strong leadership and management skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of veterinary medicine and emergency/specialty care
