Program Description

The Emergency-Focused Internship Program at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is a 13-month immersive experience designed to develop well-rounded, confident emergency veterinarians. The program provides comprehensive clinical exposure and mentorship, with a focus on developing the skills and confidence needed to become competent, independent, and productive emergency veterinarians.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple hospitalized and incoming emergency cases under supervision
• Perform spays, neuters, and basic soft tissue surgeries under guided mentorship
• Participate in patient care rounds and case discussions
• Collaborate with experienced ER veterinarians, specialists, and support staff
• Attend hospital-provided continuing education sessions and training workshops
• Maintain accurate medical records and contribute to high-quality patient care

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)
• Active New Jersey veterinary license or eligibility for licensure
• Active DEA license or DEA licensure eligible
• Highly motivated with a professional and positive demeanor
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for emergency medicine and commitment to continuous learning
