Veterinary Hospital Manager

About the role

The Hospital Manager supports the overall business operations and is a key part of the day-to-day workflow, ensuring uninterrupted care and service. This position oversees staff, including hiring and training, and manages financial aspects such as billing, banking, inventory, equipment selection, and facility maintenance. The Manager fosters a welcoming, customer-focused work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage financial reporting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, budgeting, income reconciliation, credit, and banking
  • Oversee inventory management, process flow, and control
  • Maintain patient medical records with the highest accuracy
  • Manage interviewing, hiring, and training of staff
  • Handle scheduling for staff and doctors
  • Promote and ensure a patient-centered environment
  • Facilitate resolutions for client problems that cannot be resolved by doctors or staff
  • Engage in community involvement, including fundraising and charity events
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting 50 pounds, stooping, bending, and standing for long periods

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or relevant education and work experience
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (desirable but not required)
  • Customer service-oriented with excellent organizational skills, including multitasking and prioritization
  • Professional and positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills
  • Team-oriented with skills to support a team-based culture
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
