Veterinary Extern - General Practice & Emergency

About the role

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the supervising veterinarian at Waterville Veterinary Clinic
• Gather patient histories
• Perform physical exams
• Create treatment plans
• Diagnose patients
• Provide dental services
• Assist or perform surgical procedures
• Manage medical care for patients
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients

Qualifications

Veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for Waterville Veterinary Clinic is $1,000.
