Veterinary Extern - General Practice

About the role

Palm City Animal Medical Center offers a veterinary externship experience for students interested in gaining hands-on clinical experience in general practice. This opportunity allows students to work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians, gaining experience in various aspects of veterinary care including patient history gathering, physical exams, treatment plan creation, diagnostics, dentistry, surgical procedures, and medical management.

Responsibilities

- Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories and perform physical exams. - Create and implement treatment plans based on diagnostic findings. - Assist in or perform dental services and surgical procedures under supervision. - Support the medical team and clients in communicating effectively. - Gain practical experience in medical management of patients.

Requirements

- Currently enrolled in a veterinary school. - Completion of prerequisite courses and rotations. - Commitment to full-time participation in the externship.

Qualifications

- Strong academic performance. - Excellent communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Adherence to safety protocols and hospital policies.
