Veterinary Extern - General Practice

About the role

An externship experience at Animal Care Center of Polaris will provide students with hands-on clinical experience and understanding of day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians
• Gather patient histories
• Perform physical exams
• Create treatment plans
• Diagnose and perform dental services
• Assist or perform surgical procedures
• Manage medical care for patients
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
• Participate in wellness care and surgical procedures for shelter animals
• Engage in advanced orthopedic procedures such as TECA, TPLO, Tightrope, and THR

Requirements

• Third and fourth year Veterinary students
• Eligible for a travel/living expense stipend

Qualifications

• Highly motivated and dedicated to veterinary medicine
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
