About the role
We are seeking a Surgical Coordinator to support our surgical team at Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC). The ideal candidate will have veterinary experience, with a preference for surgical or specialty experience, and a technician or assistant background.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating surgical consults and procedures
- Communicating with clients about treatment plans, estimates, and post-operative care
- Ensuring records and follow-ups are accurate and up to date
- Serving as a point of contact for surgical scheduling and case flow
- Providing clear, compassionate communication to pet owners
Requirements
- Veterinary experience is required, with a preference for surgical or specialty experience
- Techician or assistant background preferred, but not required
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Exceptional communication and client service skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately with both teams and clients
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Maine
- Experience in a veterinary setting preferred

Pay
$22/hr (dependent upon experience)
Schedule
This is a full-time position with the following available schedules:
- Sunday-Wednesday: 7:00am - 5:30pm
- Wednesday-Saturday: 7:00am - 5:30pm
Some holidays are required.
