Veterinary Clinician/Senior Clinician - Equine medicine and surgery

Responsibilities

• Treatment of clinical cases of equine patients at UNAM Veterinary Hospital, including medical and surgical cases in Windhoek (Neudamm).
• Lecturing veterinary students in selected topics in equine clinical studies as determined by the Head of Department; as well as practicals.
• Conduct practical sessions in the Skills lab/wet lab, and where applicable with live animals.
• Conduct continuous assessment of students.
• Participate in organization and implementation of sixth year clinical rotation training.
• Active participation in research and community service in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Requirements

• Unconditional Registration as a Veterinarian in Namibia, with at least 5 years of proven clinical experience in Equine Clinical Studies.
• Sufficient exposure to and competence in equine clinical practice including basic surgery, castrations, diagnostic imaging and internal medicine is required.
• B.V.M or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in education and current participation in community service activities will be an advantage.
• Clinical expertise may be practically assessed in shortlisted candidates.
• A relevant Post Graduate degree will be an advantage.
• Participation in the after hours and emergency calls for equine patients is essential.
