Veterinary Client Service Representative/ Veterinary Assistant

Hamburg Veterinary Clinic, located in northern New Jersey, is looking for a part-time Client Service Representative to join our team.

About the role

This position is responsible for managing multiple phone lines simultaneously, booking appointments, checking in/out clients, and processing payments. We are looking for someone with a great attitude, outgoing personality, a high level of computer proficiency, and exceptional telephone skills. Applicants must be team players who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. This is a part-time position, approximately 32 hours, with flexibility to work additional hours. Candidates must be willing to be cross-trained as a Veterinary Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, their pets, vendors, and other visitors to our medical office
• Educate clients on the importance of preventative care
• Answer patient questions, provide assistance and directions when necessary
• Field all phone calls and send emails
• Utilize our medical office software to schedule new and follow-up appointments for our patients
• Register new patients and update necessary records
• Process bills, invoices, and patient payments in office
• Animal handling and restraint
• Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures
• Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record
• Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas
• Restock and organize medical supplies
• Constantly advance your knowledge base and skill set

Requirements

• 2 years of professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, other), preferred
• Excellent phone and computer skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks
• Ability to adjust to changes in the environment and handle stress in a calm manner
• Team player with patience and a positive attitude
• Ability to anticipate needs and be detail-oriented due to the high level of quality medicine
• Ability to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds
