About the Role

As a Cardiology Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our cardiology team and ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist cardiologists and technicians with patient exams, triage, and procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, administer oral medications, and take radiographs.
  • Support specialized cardiac diagnostics, including obtaining ECGs, setting up Holter monitors, collecting data, and assisting with blood pressure measurement while documenting findings.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostics and procedures, assist with positioning and gentle restraint, and support the doctor and technician during procedures.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain cardiac equipment and instruments.
  • Provide compassionate patient care and ensure patient comfort while maintaining a clean and organized facility.
  • Discharge patients, review treatment plans and medication administration, and provide follow-up care instructions to clients.
  • Assist with client service operations, including answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, prescriptions, and invoices using computer systems.
  • Support exam and procedure room turnover, monitor supply inventory, and assist with training new teammates.
  • Travel to secondary locations as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (must be at least 18 years old).
  • Veterinary assistant experience is required; experience in a cardiology or specialty environment is a plus.
  • Calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
  • Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry animals up to 40 lbs, with comfort in prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and physical activity.
