Job Summary
Animal Dermatology Clinic - Richmond is seeking a cross-trained Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant. The ideal candidate will possess a positive and energetic personality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
About the Role
As a Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. Your responsibilities will include client service, answering phones, taking accurate messages, booking appointments, maintaining records, pharmacy and retail sales, marketing implementation, maintenance/housekeeping, and financial responsibilities.

Requirements
- Previous experience or training/education in a veterinary facility
- Must be friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented
- Excellent client service skills
- Excellent phone skills
- Computer skills preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work in a team-oriented environment
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Able to take direction, handle money accurately and honestly
- Sound decision-making skills and multi-task while working in a stressful environment
- Able to be cross-trained for front office receptionist duties; telephone and computer skills are necessary
- Able to work in a multi-specialty veterinary hospital setting
- Dependable attendance is required
- Able to lift 40 pounds
- The ability to walk, bend, squat, stand or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working in the public (ie: restaurant, retail or service business)
- Experience in a veterinary hospital is required
- Experience in a multi-specialty veterinary hospital is preferred
Skills
- Preparation and restraint of animals during procedures
- Assistance in surgery
- Performing venipuncture and reading cytologies
- Applying bandages and/or splints
- Wound care
- Using a stethoscope and otoscope
- Advising pet owners on proper care
