About the role

The College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital at Oklahoma State University is seeking an enthusiastic person with a passion for small animals. Successful candidate will provide clinical assistance to professional staff and a variety of treatments to patients admitted to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH).

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assistance to professional staff and a variety of treatments to patients admitted to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH).
  • Actively participate in one-on-one training of veterinary students.
  • Work alongside veterinary specialists to provide clients and patients with the highest standard of care.

Requirements

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Two years related experience; or Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with two years related experience;
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or related area;
  • DVM degree or equivalent.

Skills, Proficiencies, And/or Knowledge

  • Experience in restraint of small, administering injections, and placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters is essential.
  • Must have knowledge of equipment used within VTH including, but not limited to: personal computer, telephone, copy machine, laser, video endoscope, diagnostic lab equipment, camera/video camera, electrodiagnostic equipment, etc.
  • Must be physically capable of standing for prolonged periods and lifting animals weighing 50 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Veterinary Technology
  • Five years experience as a Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA or credentials in a specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.
