Veterinary Assistant, Surgery
About the role
We are growing and looking for an experienced veterinary assistant to join our Surgery team! Are you looking to advance your skills and knowledge in a fast-paced environment that will encourage and support your growth?
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient prep, positioning, and monitoring during surgical procedures
- Maintain a sterile field and apply surgical sterilization techniques
- Identify, handle, and care for surgical instruments and equipment
- Absorb and apply surgical sterilization techniques and maintain a sterile field, plus familiarity with surgical instrument identification, handling, and care
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Obtain detailed patient histories, and provide excellent patient care and monitoring
- Perform proficient venipuncture
- Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams
- Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture
Requirements
- 2+ years of veterinary medicine experience preferred
- Surgical assistance experience highly preferred, including patient prep, positioning, and monitoring during procedures
- Strong attention to detail in high-pressure surgical settings, with the ability to multitask and think critically on your feet
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care, with the ability to remain composed during stressful and emotional situations
Qualifications
- Current license to practice veterinary medicine in Washington State
- Current CPR certification

- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and sterilization techniques

Pay
$23.00–$29.00/hr
Schedule
Full-time opportunity in Poulsbo, WA
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3x12. Day shift. No weekends.
Current shifts available: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 7a–7p.
