About the role

Shadow Hills Pet Clinic is seeking an experienced Part Time veterinary assistant to join our dynamic team. Located in beautiful Sun Valley, California, we are a long-standing general practice hospital dedicated to providing compassionate and quality medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow Hills Pet Clinic is looking for an experienced Part Time veterinary assistant to assist in various aspects of veterinary care.
  • Assist in surgery, monitor surgery patients, perform surgical recovery, draw blood and run bloodwork, place IV catheters, and handle x-rays.
  • Provide client education and maintain a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Perform tasks such as dental procedures, anesthesia, and laboratory skills.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of prior veterinary experience in a clinical setting.
  • Surgical assisting experience.
  • Obtaining accurate and thorough medical histories.
  • TPR (Technical Patient Relations).
  • Assisting doctors and other technical staff with patient restraint.
  • Experience with blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular).
  • Placing IV catheters.
  • Knowledge of digital radiology including positioning.
  • Experience with dentistry (digital x-rays, scaling, polishing).
  • Anesthesia induction, intubation, monitoring, and aseptic technique.
  • Laboratory skills such as ear and fecal cytology, HM5, Vetscan, Sedivue.
  • Excellent client communication and education.
  • Completion of CSR duties as assigned.

  • Experience with in-clinic laboratory equipment.
  • Comfortable with proper animal handling and restraint.
  • Understanding the importance of client education.
  • Positive and supportive team player.

Pay

$19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Schedule

Part Time schedule available.
