Veterinary Assistant - Overnight

Full-time opportunity in Vancouver, WA for a skilled LVT to join our overnight emergency team at a busy 24/7 emergency and specialty veterinary hospital.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide for the patient’s needs in the emergency department by assisting licensed technicians and veterinarians with patient care.
• Assist technicians with radiographic procedures.
• Prepare and run lab work.
• Obtain accurate patient histories.
• Client communication and accurate record-keeping.
• Patient discharges.
• Restraint of patients for IV catheters, physical examinations, and minor procedures.
• Complete treatments of patients as assigned in a timely manner.
• Provide exceptional nursing care.
• Fill pre-printed prescriptions if a Med Clerk License is held.
• Basic drug calculations.
• Initiation of fluid therapy.
• Patient care of stable patients in isolation.
• Work rotating holiday shifts and participate in the on-call rotation as needed.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
• Enforce OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience in veterinary medicine (ER preferred).
• Must be able to obtain a Veterinary Medication Clerks License upon hire and keep it active.
• Valid high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of patient handling and restraint.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to new situations.
• Ability to act as a team player, adhering to all core values of the hospital.

Pay

$20-$24/hr + $2/hr overnight differential (6pm-6am) + $2/hr weekend differential (Saturday-Sunday).

Schedule

Overnight shift at a 24/7 emergency hospital. Rotating holiday shifts and participation in the on-call rotation are required.
