Veterinary Assistant or Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a veterinary technician or assistant to join our new team in North Carolina’s beautiful Asheville. We are excited to announce the opening of our new general practice and urgent care hospital in the summer of 2026, located at 17 Bryson Street next to the FedEx in the Biltmore area.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and treatments
• Administer medications and injections
• Perform diagnostic tests and assist with surgeries
• Care for hospitalized patients
• Prepare surgical instruments and equipment
• Handle administrative tasks such as charting and billing

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (VTS) or Veterinary Assistant (VAA) from an AVMA-accredited program
• Experience in a veterinary setting preferred
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work flexible weekend and weekday urgent care hours

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of basic animal anatomy and physiology

Skills

• Proficiency in electronic medical records systems
• Basic knowledge of anesthesia and surgical techniques
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently
• Attention to detail and organizational skills

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
