Veterinary Assistant, Oncology

Job Description

The Oncology Assistant supports the Oncologist and Technicians to provide safe and efficient treatments for animals receiving care. They help facilitate the treatment of animals in Oncology by assisting in procedures, chemotherapy, and consultations.

Responsibilities

• Performs animal restraint
• Helps admit chemotherapy patients
• Performs TPR accurately
• Aids the Technician in chemotherapy drug administration
• Performs blood work (procyte, chemistry, sedivue, lacuna, assist with send out)
• Stocks
• Cleans/disinfects after chemotherapy administration
• Cleans exam rooms after exams
• Prepares for procedures and anticipates the needs of the department
• Aids Technicians in CT's, radiographs, and a variety of other procedures
• Administers oral, IM, SQ medications and SQ fluids under the supervision of a Technician
• Fills prescriptions
• Performs other duties as directed
• Supports other areas and departments as needed

Qualifications

• At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is REQUIRED to be considered for this role!
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Pay

$18 - $24/hr., based on experience

Monday - Friday
7:30am – 4:30pm
