Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists (TPHS) is seeking a Neurology Veterinary Assistant to join their team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. Located in San Antonio, this position offers the support, tools, and resources needed to enhance your skills.
Responsibilities
- Aid veterinary technicians or neurologists during examinations and history taking, record keeping, and diagnostic testing.
- Assist with patient care, including vital sign monitoring, sample collection, and medication administration.
- Demonstrate proficiency in catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, and digital radiography positioning.
- Handle high caseloads and stressful situations professionally.
- Show a strong understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with veterinary pharmacology.
- Maintain a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented attitude.
- Support small animal surgery and recovery processes.
- Participate in setting up for MRI and CT procedures.
- Utilize computer systems knowledge and proficiency to perform job functions.
- Fulfill OSHA guidelines for safety and hazardous material handling.
Requirements
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic, preferably in neurology or specialty.
- Certified veterinary assistant (CVA) certification preferred or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with colleagues, clinicians, staff, and pet owners.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Availability for on-call shifts at least one weekend per month and holidays as required.
