Veterinary Assistant - General Practice

About the role

VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our emergency department full-time. Competitive Pay and Benefits (We will help cover the costs associated with VTNE preparation and reimburse the registration fee for the VTNE).

Responsibilities

• Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients.
• Support the Technician and Doctor teams by restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures.
• Take detailed medical histories and patient vitals.
• Fulfill prescriptions (as allowed by law).
• Perform laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
• Provide compassionate care for hospitalized animals.
• Maintain medical records.
• Assist the Doctor and Technician staff as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe hospital environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in a veterinary setting preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of basic animal anatomy and physiology.
• Basic computer skills.

Skills

Schedule

Full-time: 4x10 hour shifts per week. Rotating weekends.
