Veterinary Assistant - Emergency
Full-time: Sunday and Monday 12pm-12am and Wednesday 4pm-4am. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $18/hour.
About the role
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting urgent and critical patient care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital. Your work will include hands-on patient support, safe animal restraint, triage assistance, outpatient treatments, laboratory sample collection, diagnostic support, patient monitoring, and compassionate client service during emergency visits, admissions, and discharges.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with basic patient care and husbandry, including feeding, cleaning, and maintaining patient comfort
- Safely handling and restraining patients during exams, treatments, and procedures
- Support accurate and timely medical record documentation
- Performing basic laboratory tests and preparing samples as directed
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked hospital environment
- Ensuring exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment are prepared and ready for patient care
- Supporting veterinarians and technicians to ensure efficient daily hospital operations
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices
- Able to appropriately handle animals
- Able to assist in veterinary medical procedures
- Recent experience in a veterinary practice
- Willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
