Veterinary Assistant

About the role

Paws Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support exceptional experiences for clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile assistant who enjoys variety in their day and wants to continue utilizing and developing a well-rounded skillset.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
• Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Monitor anesthesia and support patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team
• Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
• Build positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces

Requirements

• 5+ years of veterinary assistant experience
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
• Experience assisting with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
• Ability to collect patient histories and obtain patient weights and vital signs
• Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
• Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday

Qualifications

Pay

$18 - $20 per hour, for each hour worked
