Veterinary Assistant

Meadowbrook Veterinary Clinic is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. As a full-service, AAHA-accredited veterinary medical facility in Peoria, Illinois, we pride ourselves on delivering top-notch medical, surgical, and dental care through our professional and courteous staff. Our team is highly skilled in PennHip evaluations, A-Stamp certifications, TPLO procedures, orthopedic surgery, abdominal ultrasounds, and echocardiography. We are dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative healthcare, and providing health-related education.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Requirements

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is required
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately

Pay

$17.00-$20.00 per hour, based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, working four 10-hour shifts with a consistent day off each week. Rotating Saturdays, 7:45 AM–12:00 PM.
