Wilton Animal Hospital is a compassionate, team-oriented practice dedicated to providing the highest level of care to patients and exceptional service to clients. We’re looking for a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team and contribute to meaningful, hands-on patient care.

About the role

This full-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on patient care, client communication, and supporting a busy veterinary team. You’ll work alongside compassionate professionals in a collaborative environment that values teamwork, professional growth, and excellent patient and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care, handling, restraint, monitoring, and comfort
  • Obtain patient histories and other relevant information
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Collect blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples as directed
  • Perform basic diagnostic testing, including blood work and urinalysis, based on experience
  • Prepare laboratory samples for analysis
  • Prepare, clean, sanitize, and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Clean and maintain medical equipment and supplies
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records and treatment documentation
  • Provide exceptional customer service and help build positive client relationships
  • Educate clients regarding patient care, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care
  • Collaborate with doctors, technicians, assistants, and reception team members to maintain an efficient daily workflow
  • Jump in wherever needed to support excellent patient and client care

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting preferred
  • Strong animal-handling and patient-care skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced veterinary environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Confidence communicating with clients about patient care and preventive recommendations
  • Dependability, professionalism, and a team-first attitude
  • Willingness to learn and continue growing professionally
  • Passion for animal care and client education
