Veterinary Assistant

Job Description

Aid with patient care and treatment
Collect history from clients about their pets
Maintain inventory and stock
Monitor hospitalized pets
Aid in caring for animals after surgery
Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
Fill medications the doctor prescribes.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older
• Self-starter, able to multitask and a team player
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle them even when stressed, ill, or in pain
• Experience in animal care (1+ years preferred, but not required)
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and restrain animals (able to lift 40 lbs. on own)
• Experienced in teamwork and working with all levels of hospital team members
