Veterinary Assistant

About the role

Village Veterinary Clinic in Mayfield, Ohio, is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team. We are an AAHA Accredited, full-service hospital with over 50 years of trusted service in our community.

Responsibilities

• Keeping accurate medical records and answering client questions
• Prepping patients for exams and surgeries
• Administering medications as directed
• Assisting with lab testing (blood, fecal, urine, etc.)
• Cleaning and sanitizing surgical tools, kennels, and exam areas
• Monitoring post-op patients and reporting any changes
• Safely restraining patients during exams and procedures
• Helping educate pet parents on meds, treatments, and care
• Partnering with credentialed technicians and DVMs to provide top-tier care

Requirements

• Experienced in veterinary assistant duties
• Committed to delivering high-quality care
• A calm, compassionate presence for both patients and clients
• A team player who communicates clearly and works well with others
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable multitasking in a clinical setting
• Eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a positive hospital culture

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in veterinary assisting preferred
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Skills

• Excellent communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer skills
