About the role

Join a highly collaborative and forward-looking anesthesia team in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. We are seeking a full-time faculty colleague in Anesthesia at the rank of clinical- or tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the clinical anesthesia service
  • Participate in didactic instruction in anesthesiology and related disciplines
  • Supervise students in anesthesia and surgery labs
  • Provide clinical instruction of professional students in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
  • Provide anesthesia training of interns, residents and graduate students from various disciplines
  • Share responsibilities associated with resident training (resident seminars, journal club and rounds)
  • Participate in anesthesia service meetings
  • Anesthesia on both small and large animals
  • Consultations in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
  • Participation in continuing education programs of the College
  • Participation in faculty governance activities
  • Occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meetings

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire
  • Completion of an ACVAA or ECVAA approved residency training program by the date of hire
  • Eligible for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by appointment start date

Qualifications

  • Diplomate status in the ACVAA or ECVAA is preferred
  • Advanced Degree (MS, PhD) in relevant field
  • Clinical Experience in anesthesiology
  • Leadership record
  • Previous scholarly activity
