About the role
Join a highly collaborative and forward-looking anesthesia team in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. We are seeking a full-time faculty colleague in Anesthesia at the rank of clinical- or tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor.
Responsibilities
- Direct the clinical anesthesia service
- Participate in didactic instruction in anesthesiology and related disciplines
- Supervise students in anesthesia and surgery labs
- Provide clinical instruction of professional students in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
- Provide anesthesia training of interns, residents and graduate students from various disciplines
- Share responsibilities associated with resident training (resident seminars, journal club and rounds)
- Participate in anesthesia service meetings
- Anesthesia on both small and large animals
- Consultations in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
- Participation in continuing education programs of the College
- Participation in faculty governance activities
- Occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meetings
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire
- Completion of an ACVAA or ECVAA approved residency training program by the date of hire
- Eligible for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by appointment start date
Qualifications
- Diplomate status in the ACVAA or ECVAA is preferred
- Advanced Degree (MS, PhD) in relevant field
- Clinical Experience in anesthesiology
- Leadership record
- Previous scholarly activity
