About the role
Saugus Animal Hospital is seeking a Lead DVM / Medical Director to join our dedicated team. As the Medical Director, you will lead the medical department, provide clinical oversight, and mentor junior veterinarians.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the medical staff
- Mentor and develop junior veterinarians
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Collaborate with the practice manager and other departments to maintain high standards of care
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making for the practice
- Manage the medical department budget and ensure efficient use of resources
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an ACVIM accredited program
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in small animal practice
- Board certification in a specialty area preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience with medical record keeping and electronic health records systems
- Knowledge of current veterinary practices and technologies
- Passion for veterinary medicine and a commitment to excellence
