About the role
Southside Animal Hospital and Wellness Center is seeking an Associate Veterinarian. Dr. Sandstrom has been leading our team for the last year and is excited to start growing! We are looking for a veterinarian who is passionate about supporting our tight-knit community. All experience levels are welcome. We have the capacity to onboard and mentor a newly graduated doctor and would welcome the expertise of a more seasoned vet as well.
Responsibilities
- Support progressive lifelong patient care
- Complement general medicine skills with orthopedic surgery and canine rehabilitation
- Mentor and support advanced surgery training, ultrasound, and other niche medical skills
- Provide care for dogs, cats, and ferrets, with the potential to expand to exotic animals and pocket pets
- Utilize advanced diagnostics including in-house hematology equipment, digital full body and dental radiology, and a new ultrasound machine
- Work with a team dedicated to providing high-quality care and maintaining a positive work environment
Requirements
- Current AVMA license
- Experience in small animal medicine and surgery
- Passionate about veterinary medicine and community service
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Strong surgical skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage time effectively
Benefits
- Base salary of $100,000 to $140,000 (depending on experience)
- Potential production-based bonuses paid out monthly
- Sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 plus relocation expenses if applicable

Southside Animal Hospital and Wellness Center is located in the community of southern Anchorage, Alaska. Anchorage is known for its fine dining, local craft breweries, theatres, golf courses, botanical gardens, and festivals. It is also a gateway to nearby mountains where you can explore glaciers, kayak, hike, fish, hunt, and enjoy many state parks.
