Responsibilities and Duties of Program Manager
- Collaborate with community Veteran agencies, organizations, schools, neighborhoods, and other organizations to identify needs, resources, and program priorities.
- Aid the SMVF Regional Navigator in planning, implementing, and evaluating culturally appropriate and sensitive prevention education programs for Veterans and their families.
- With a team of Peer Support Specialists, a Job Coach, and an Education-Vocation Specialist, set the initiatives of the SMVF program to meet the SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant priorities, and connect Veterans to the best healthcare services and other stress-reducing programs for Veterans and their families.
- Engage in information dissemination activities and lead online and in-person group workshop facilitation, offering suicide prevention education, substance abuse, tobacco use, and mental health information, and educational programs, vocational programs, and employment services.
- Maintain records of Suicide Prevention program implementation data, including participation, number, and content of programs and activities, and evaluate the data.
- Keep abreast of other community resources and service programs.
- Support other Prevention staff in providing Prevention programs, resources, and other family, community, and youth issues.
- Assist the SMVF Regional Navigator in areas related to program planning or outcome measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SMVF Regional Navigator.
Qualifications of SSG Program Manager
- The candidate at entry level must have, through a combination of education and work experience, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters Degree in human service field (including but not limited to Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or equivalent.) (Preferred)
- Candidate MUST be a Veteran, Dependent, or Spouse of a Veteran.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of employment and availability of personal transportation for on-the-job use as needed.
