Veteran Housing Service Coordinator- Northern VT Region

About the role

The Supportive Service for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a program that provides assistance to very low-income Veteran families who are experiencing homelessness and/or are at imminent risk of homelessness to gain and retain stable housing. This position plays a critical role by guiding low-income Veteran families through the housing stability process, connecting them to resources and providing direct assistance as needed, with the goal of stabilizing housing for Veteran families who are literally homeless and those who are in danger of losing their homes.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management and housing navigation services to Veterans in northern Vermont and Clinton County, NY using the Housing First model
• Utilize Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction and Trauma Informed Care to help Veterans and their families improve their quality of life and increase connection to stable permanent housing opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
• Two years of applicable experience
• Effective verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills
• Ability with training to use computerized case management applications to enter and track participant information
• Ability to understand and explain program details and workflow

Desirable Qualifications

• Experiential knowledge as a military veteran and/or with homelessness
• Training, education, or experience with social services support
• Knowledge of the HUD Homeless Management Information System

Pay

55,000-65,000

Schedule

• Full-time, 1.0 FTE, 37.5 standard hours per week
• Eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy
• Occasional evening and/or weekends may be required
• Travel to and from worksites required
