About the role

Big Thicket Veterinary Clinic in Cleveland, TX is a mixed animal practice providing care for small animals and large animals. We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Veterinary Technician who enjoys variety in their day and is passionate about working with both companion animals and large animal patients.

Responsibilities

  • Aid veterinarians with small and large animal exams
  • Provide restraint for dogs, cats, and large animal patients
  • Assist with field calls and ambulatory appointments
  • Maintain anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures
  • Assist with equine and large animal procedures when needed
  • Venipuncture and IV catheter placement (small animal)
  • Perform laboratory procedures and in-house diagnostics
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Radiology positioning and safety protocols
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and assist with their care
  • Communicate with clients and educate them about their pets' care
  • Maintain accurate medical records and charges
  • Help keep the clinic and treatment areas clean and organized

Requirements

  • Prior clinical experience preferred
  • Mixed animal or large animal experience is a plus (not required)
  • Comfortable working with dogs, cats, and large animals including horses
  • Confident with animal restraint and patient handling
  • Willingness to assist with farm calls and ambulatory services when needed
  • Dependable, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (VTS) or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
