About The Role
The Vet Technician/Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. This position involves assisting with medical procedures, monitoring patient health, and providing compassionate care to animals in a clinical setting. The Vet Technician/Assistant ensures that the veterinary facility operates smoothly by maintaining equipment, managing records, and supporting daily clinical operations. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures by preparing animals and equipment.
- Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals before, during, and after treatment.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Provide basic nursing care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding animal care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and managing waste.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper storage of medications.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and assist with appointment scheduling.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a veterinary technician training program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) or equivalent.
- Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician or Assistant as required by state regulations.
- Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common medical procedures.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care environment.
- Advanced certifications such as Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
- Training in anesthesia monitoring, or laboratory procedures.
- Strong customer service skills and experience in client communication.
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.

- Strong communication skills for explaining medical information to pet owners and collaborating with veterinary staff.
