Vessel Operations Liaison

About the role

The Assistant Port Engineer supports the Stevens Towing Vessel Managers and NC Operations Manager in the Edenton / Elizabeth City area. This position involves supply and parts coordination, crew transportation, and hands-on assistance with tug fleet operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, storage and distribution of various supplies and parts for tug fleet (6-7 tugs)
• Transportation of tug crew to various locations within the Edenton / Elizabeth City area (grocery store, rental car office, med-clinic, etc)
• Transportation of parts / tug supplies between Edenton & Morehead City
• Assist tug fleet with fueling, routine maintenance and garbage disposal
• Assist port engineer and mechanics with repairs (running to pick up parts, extra hands, etc)
• Assist vessel managers with maintenance of required vessel paperwork and equipment
• Some weekend and after-hours work will be required; expected to be reachable and available in the event of emergencies or after-hours issues

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License
• TWIC Card or proof of application
• Forklift operation
• Proficient with Word, Excel and email
• Able to work effectively without direct supervision
• Secondary education preferred but not required
• Required to learn safety rules and become familiar with proper usage of safety equipment
• Required to comply with all Safety and Pollution Prevention Regulations and Procedures at all times under the direction of Stevens Towing Company, Inc.'s safety policies
