Responsibilities

  • Develops, analyzes, and reviews vertical transportation drawings, specifications, reports, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
  • Attends meetings with design personnel both virtually and in-person.
  • Works closely with clients, coordinating and communicating design aspects of vertical transportation systems.
  • Manages and leads a team, providing technical guidance to CAD designers, drafters, and engineers.
  • Prepares standard engineering calculations, white papers, material quality takeoffs, estimates, and other design documentation.
  • Conducts site surveys, inspections, and as-built reviews for facility rehabilitation and renewal projects.
  • Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Supports construction by reviewing vendor submittals, responding to request for information (RFI), and executing design changes.
  • Performs site surveys of existing facilities for as-build generation, rehabilitation designs, and construction support of new facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
  • Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests; assists with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
  • Assists in the review of supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD designers, designers, and lower-level engineers working on the same project.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree with 7-10+ years of related experience in the elevator/escalator industry.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) License is required, with the ability to obtain reciprocity and/or comity in additional states.
  • Experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in the elevator/escalator industry.
  • Experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in industrial, transit, or commercial facilities.
  • Experience developing performance specifications for all aspects of vertical transportation and directing the development of interfacing drawings.
  • Experience reviewing and commenting on drawings electronically (i.e., PDF versions).
  • Experience using BIM or other 3-D CAD and scheduling software or file management software.
  • Experience in the design and specification of vertical transportation systems.
  • Capable of working in a self-directed manner with minimal oversight.
  • Experience working with a design group of lower-level Engineers and CAD designers in the production of multiple projects or sub-tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Desired skills include the use of BIM or other 3-D CAD and experience with scheduling software or file management software.
  • Desirable experience in specialty areas such as fire suppression systems, building management systems, supervisory control and data acquisition, and electrical power distribution.

Schedule

This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team and is a full-time role.

Pay

$103,500.00 - $181,100.00

Skills

The ideal candidate should possess strong people management and leadership skills, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication abilities. They should also have a solid and demonstrable understanding of elevators, escalators, and moving walkways, including associated codes, standards, and industry practices.
