Job Responsibilities
- Support engineering with moderately complex engineering duties and other hands-on tasks, particularly focusing on Internal Research and Development programs
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues during integration/test events
- Reviews project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions, and to support the test design and setup
- Utilize hands-on skills to include use of various hardware and software-related tools to troubleshoot, resolve issues, load software, etc.
- Effectively manage and conduct tests and be familiar with test range operations
- Work independently for several days
- Work confidently in shop and lab environments and maintains a working knowledge of the DRS product base
- Provides hands-on feedback to engineers
- Sets up and conducts tests of units and components
- Adapt to flexible test schedules and be prepared to adjust plans as necessary to meet project demands
- Represent DRS in a professional manner at all times, ensuring high standards of conduct and performance
- May coordinate maintenance projects
- Mentor and coach less experienced technicians
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 1+ year of relevant experience
- Familiarization of blueprints and wiring schematics
- Strong mechanical skills
- Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus
- Fundamental understanding of computer systems, operating systems, and configuration files, a plus
- Willing and able to travel 50-75% of the time
- U.S. Citizenship required

Pay
The salary range for this position is $49,624.00/year - $64,511.00 for the state of Illinois. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity.
