About the role

As Head Accountant (A to Z), you will lead a team of 15 employees and, together with them, be responsible for the accounting and payment processes of VAB NV and related companies. You will support the team in daily operations, contributing to efficient workflows and accurate financial administration.

Responsibilities

• Monitor reporting: contribute to daily accounting processes and ensure accurate and timely input for monthly and quarterly reports.
• Provide technical expertise and advice: coordinate the complex accounting structure, act as a point of contact for colleagues with accounting questions, assist in finalizing annual accounts, and maintain relationships with the auditing firm. You report to the Financial Director.
• Bring structure and efficiency: implement clear structures and procedures, considering the complexity of the subject matter. Foster a culture of openness, improvement, and progress.
• Lead and organize the team: manage a team of 15 employees responsible for the accounting and payments of multiple companies. Ensure proper organization, coordination, and planning with the right priorities.
• Apply people management in practice: motivate and inspire your team members in their roles as experts. Encourage self-reliance, provide support where needed, and focus on the growth and development of their competencies and skills.

Requirements

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree and have several years of experience in an accounting role within a medium-sized company (such as VAB, with 1,700 employees).
• You have previously taken on a leadership role, demonstrating the ability to build and guide a strong, professional team.
• You speak fluent Dutch and English and communicate openly and effectively with all departments and stakeholders.
• You possess extensive applied technical and substantive knowledge and actively follow developments in legislation, corporate accounting, and VAT. You combine accounting expertise with digital awareness. Experience with MS Dynamics F&O is a plus, and you are open to leveraging AI and modern technology to make processes smarter, more efficient, and more accurate.

Schedule

Your workplace is at our office in Zwijndrecht, with flexible working hours and a hybrid work model that efficiently combines office and remote work.

Location details

Our office is located in Zwijndrecht, near the E17 highway, and is easily accessible by public transport. The train station is 500 meters away, and a tram stop (tram 3) is 1.5 km from the office. If you prefer cycling, covered bike storage and showers are available.
