Veneer Superintendent

Position Summary

Timber Products Company is seeking a strong leader to manage the veneer facility at Medford Plywood. Key responsibilities include overseeing production and quality, supporting sales, and ensuring efficient resource utilization.

Major Tasks

• Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety programs and standards.
• Oversee daily and weekly output targets for veneer skins operations.
• Coordinate veneer and substrate supply with purchasing, planning, and manufacturing operations to meet sales commitments.
• Ensure veneer products meet specified grades, colors, grain matches, thickness tolerances, flatness, moisture content, and bond/adhesion requirements.
• Supervise, coach, and develop shift supervisors and hourly crews, setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable.
• Work with the maintenance department to plan preventive maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Maintain the appearance of veneer operations to reflect pride of ownership.
• Complete administrative paperwork and reports related to production, scheduling, quality control, and safety.
• Support and enforce company policies and procedures.

Skill Requirements

• A BA/BS degree in Business Administration, production management, or related field is preferred, but not required.
• A minimum of 5 years of overall production management experience, preferably in wood manufacturing or similar environments, is required.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees is essential.
• An attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently are necessary.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email are required, along with the ability to learn and use company-specific software.
