About the Role
This position is part of the Clark County School District's transportation team, responsible for ensuring safe and efficient transportation services for students.
Responsibilities
- Operate school buses and other district vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, district policies, and transportation regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle safely, including those with special needs.
- Monitor student behavior during transport and enforce district conduct policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, school staff, and parents regarding transportation schedules and issues.
- Respond to emergency situations and follow established protocols for accidents, breakdowns, or other incidents.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to transportation safety and procedures.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid Nevada Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements, or the ability to obtain them within the required timeframe.
- Must attach a current DMV report (no more than 6 months old) with proof of a valid driver’s license as part of the application.
- Must have a clean driving record and meet all district and state requirements for operating school buses.
- Must complete a three-year employment history in the application.
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, and physical examination as required by the district.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of safe driving practices and familiarity with school bus operations.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, afternoons, and occasional weekends or overtime as needed.
